A Browser Active Sync Test URL, 
no Smartphone

Very often there is a need to test the configuration of ActiveSync for mobile phones
(smart phones) for accessing email on an Exchange server. Test smartphone access
of ActiveSync without a smartphone is possible by just using a browser. The most useful times
for a browser link URL to test activesync is obviously when there's a real
smartphone to test with is not present. This most commonly occurs when the user of
and iPhone, Android, a windows Mobile Handheld, or a Palm Pre handheld is not conveniently located in the same office space or cannot provide their phone to the person responsible for configuring access.

A browser URL link is available to test windows mobile active sync configuration
without a smartphone. In Exchange 2003 it was the web site /OMA. For example {yourhostname}.{yourdomain}.gr/oma. In
Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010, that has changed to yourhostname.yourdomain.gr/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync.
The URL is case sensitive. The interesting thing about the results in the browser when this URL is used in a properly configured activesync web site is the 501/505 - Not implemented or not supported message is normal. That is what should be displayed.

Since IIS has undergone many new and improved changes in Windows 2008 Server and
Windows 2008 R2.  When testing activesync against a 2008 Windows server or
2008 R2 Windows Server the error page looks a little different than the one shown here but the error is still the same and the error code essentially gives away the fact the active sync url and active sync service is running on the front end exchange server .
